How it works

From a point on the map to a model you can walk through.

Six steps. You pay for the modelling once, then a monthly subscription for the model and the data on it. Nothing is hidden: the calculator shows every line before you ask for anything.

WHAT GOES INTO A MODEL

Five layers, from the idea to the ground.

A model you can trust is built in five layers. The first four are made once and carried by every place we model; the fifth is people, on your ground. Each is explained below, with where you pay for it.

STEP 1 · PLACE

Draw your octagon.

Click the map to set the centre of your place and choose its size, from 1 km to 30 km across. Octa models are always octagons: eight sides let the ground be read evenly in every direction, and the same shape fits a farm or a whole valley.

The area is what you pay by. A regular octagon 11.1 km across covers about 102 km²; 1 km across, about 0.8 km².

One-time modelling

We research and build the model of your exact octagon: the terrain, the sources that cover it, and the links between the storeys.

per km², once. Not refundable, because the work is done for your place whatever it shows.

STEP 2 · CHOOSE

Pick the models and their data.

Each model is made of data items, one per tab, and each tab answers one plain question. Tick a whole model or only the items you need. Each item has a class, set by how much work it takes to source and compute.

STEP 3 · YOUR OWN DATA

Bring what you already have.

A soil report, a survey, readings from your own sensors: share them and they appear in your model, labelled as client data. Because you supply them, the monthly price of those items drops by 10 % if partly yours and 20 % if entirely yours. We still host, process and present them.

How your data is used

  • ✓Shown in your model, labelled as yours
  • ✓Used only by Octa Intelligence, to make the models better
  • ✓Never resold as raw data
  • ✓Personal data in your files is handled under our privacy policy
STEP 4 · REQUEST, INVOICE, PAY

We review your request with you.

When the price looks right, sign in with your email and press Request this model. We check the place and the choice of models, then send an invoice for the one-time modelling and the first month. You pay by bank transfer.

Your account shows every request and where it stands.

Where your request stands

  • requestedWe have it and are reviewing it.
  • invoicedThe invoice is in your account.
  • Payment received.
  • preparingWe gather the data and build the model.
  • in reviewWe check the finished model.
  • openYour model is ready in your account.
STEP 5 · BUILD AND CHECK

Built for your exact ground.

We cut the data for your octagon from open, named sources: elevation, Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, land cover, climate normals, rivers, geology and more. Where a national authority publishes better data for your country, we use it. Then we build the model and check it by hand before it opens. Ask for human verification and our team goes to your place: it verifies what the model collected and adds what only the ground can tell.

Where a source does not cover your place, the model shows a dash. We never fill a gap with another place’s numbers.

Three quality grades

  • AuthorityRead from a named official source.
  • Other sourceFrom a named non-official source, labelled as such.
  • VerifiedChecked by people, at the desk or on site — quoted case by case.

Client data carries its own label.

STEP 6 · OPEN

Explore it, share it, keep it current.

Your model opens in your account, in 2D and 3D, with one tab per question. The subscription keeps it hosted, updated and yours to share.

Services on request

Some data exists behind a legal or practical condition, for example who owns a plot, asked for by a lawyer with a legitimate interest. We quote these case by case.
